135 Bench

Metal Urban Bench

The Manufacture de Saint-Étienne is a place steeped in history. Yet today, despite the restoration of the site with the Cité du Design and the media centre, it is only crossed by those people who specifically go there. Straight lines, flat, a large boulevard, verticality and horizontality: these are the words that can describe the space.

This 135 bench will be installed in the long, empty corridors like an island lost in the ocean. Delineating areas, ‘blurring’ the line(s), the bench will help to give definition to this flat landscape. The idea is to create physical oscillations as markers in the horizontal landscape. The variations create interest for the walker, indicating to him the living spaces

/ Maxime BURNICHON & Céline RENAUDIE

Born in Sainte-Foy-Lès-Lyon in 1992, he studied at the art and design school of Saint-Étienne ( ESADSE ), where he chose the products creation. His projects are based on the experience of the functionality, without passing over the concept of the sensibility.

At the end of her studies at Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Saint-Etienne, Céline Renaudie guide her graduation project around the different effects of shadow. The created objects reveal an atmosphere suitable for réflexion and immersion in an imaginary world with blurred shapes.

Design allows her to reconsider forms of objects to bring some strangeness, and to show people how to look differently daily objects and to become aware the impact of physical effects of light.
